Something not working?

Most things are answered below. If yours isn't, write to us. A real person reads it, usually within two business days.

Playback & audio

The music stops when I lock my screen

It shouldn't, as background audio is supported. If it stops, check that Music for Noisy Places isn't being suspended by Low Power Mode or a Focus automation, and that iOS Background App Refresh is on for the app in Settings → General → Background App Refresh.

A track cuts out or clicks when it loops

Tracks are exported as seamless loops and ship inside the app, so an audible seam is a bug on our side rather than something you can fix. Tell us which track it is and we'll repair the file.

It isn't masking the noise around me

Two things help most. First, raise the Pads and Sound FX layers in the mixer, since those carry the steady wash of sound that does most of the covering. Second, use over-ear or in-ear noise-cancelling headphones; the app is designed to work alongside them, not to replace them.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. Anything already on your phone plays in airplane mode and with no signal at all, including the music the app comes with.

New songs and rooms are downloaded as they are added, so that part needs a connection. It happens once per song, and after that the song is yours to play offline.

Volume seems lower than my other apps

Tracks are mastered conservatively so long sessions stay comfortable and don't fatigue your ears. Turning off Sound Check in Settings → Music can also change how loudly the system plays them.

Subscriptions & billing

What's included in the free version?

The Bamboo Grove in full, all four tracks and the complete layer mixer, with no time limit and no ads.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, and choose Music for Noisy Places. You can switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel, from there. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you've already paid for.

I was charged after cancelling

Apple bills the renewal if a cancellation lands within 24 hours of the renewal date. Refunds for App Store purchases are issued by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We're glad to help you sort out what happened, but we can't process the refund ourselves.

Does the free trial auto-renew?

Yes. The seven-day trial on the yearly plan converts to a paid year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can cancel the moment you start the trial and still keep all seven days.

Restoring a purchase

New phone, or reinstalled the app? Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you subscribed with. There's no account to create and no password to remember; your subscription travels with your Apple ID.

If a restore doesn't find your subscription, confirm in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions that it's listed as active on that Apple ID.

Devices & requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 26 or later.
  • Works with AirPlay, Bluetooth headphones, and CarPlay audio.
  • Headphones strongly recommended; noise-cancelling recommended in loud rooms.
  • It runs on iPad as well, though it was designed for iPhone.
